In my previous life we had a few NT machines (ok, a few hundred). I
found that having an extremely clean ethernet and avoiding 16 bit apps
made it much more reliable. Also, NT servers have some pretty bad
software they run and fail more often than individual workstations. MS
Exchange Server, fortunately, is an exception to the rule and is quite
stable.
My only moral is that it's hard to extrapolate from your personal
non-cluster experience to actual cluster use of NT, because reliablity
depends strongly on what you're running.
NCSA is planning on doing NT clusters soonish.
