Ah.. cable modems... now, maybe I understand the situation a little bit 
more.... you see, the @HOME cable modem system uses an odd DHCP 
system... requires the passing of a hostname for the DHCP server to 
lease an address (or something like that)... The RoadRunner cable modem 
services uses a more standard DHCP.... 

But, there are places on the net where you can download a patch to fix 
the situation with the @HOME service... and it seems to work. Still, I 
just found out that libgdbm that comes with the 5.2 distribution is 
broken.. compiled incorrectly with odd symbols. Really, are they hiring 
clueless non-programmers to compile these packages? This is sad.... that 
is embarrasing to the Linux community.
